Abstract: 
This study shows a strong technical and economic potential for PV connected batteries offering FCR-N. If the battery is used for the ancillary service of FCR-N, the amount of bought electricity for a normal household will increase during the summer season compared to a battery that is not used for FCR-N. This will lead to a better seasonal consumption pattern with respect to the PV production and thus benefits for the electricity grid. These benefits constitute of lower risk for overvoltage and rising frequency. Furthermore, the volume of sold electricity from a household prosumer will decrease significantly, especially during the summer if the PV connected battery is used for the ancillary service of FCR-N. In conformity with the benefits named above, this change will also lead to lower risk for overvoltage and rising frequency. If the battery is used for the ancillary service of FCR-N, the annual income will be about 5 to 36 times higher than if the battery is only used to store surplus PV electricity, depending on the amount of regulation volume.
